Linklaters bolsters corporate practice in Hong Kong SAR with hire of Roger Cheng

Linklaters today announced the hire of Roger Cheng as partner in the firm’s Hong Kong SAR corporate practice.

Roger joins from the Securities and Futures Commission (“SFC”) where he was Senior Director and the Head of the Takeovers Team. Prior to joining the SFC in 2018, he was a Corporate partner at Slaughter and May. 

At the SFC, Roger was responsible for the overall operations of the Takeovers Team and represented the SFC in significant matters before the Takeovers and Mergers Panel. He also oversaw the development of takeovers and mergers policy in Hong Kong and was involved in other policy initiatives within the SFC, including listing and post-listing regulations. He was also the Co-Chair of the Asia Pacific Takeovers Regulators Forum, a network for takeovers regulators across the Asia Pacific to exchange ideas and views. 

Roger has extensive public and private M&A experience in a range of different sectors and has considerable experience in equity capital markets transactions including IPOs and other equities works. He will join Linklaters in August 2023.
