Overview

Juliane has experience advising across a range of EU and UK competition law matters, including multi-jurisdictional merger control, compliance and antitrust matters such as cartel and abuse of dominance work. 

Juliane has advised across a range of industry sectors, including energy, infrastructure, mining, consumer goods/retail and healthcare. 

Juliane was on secondment to Anglo American plc including the De Beers Group between June 2021 and April 2022. She has also previously been seconded to Linklaters’ AFIG teams in Düsseldorf (May 2019 – February 2020) and Brussels (March – September 2017), further developing her experience in cross-border issues in competition law.

Juliane is registered in England & Wales and on the EU-list of the Dutch Brussels Bar.

  • ams on its public takeover of OSRAM in 2019-2020 which was reviewed by a number of competition authorities worldwide
  • E.ON in relation to a far-reaching asset exchange with RWE, involving distribution grid and customer solutions as well as renewables activities and an acquisition by RWE of a non-controlling minority stake in E.ON in 2019
  • Sainsbury’s on its landmark Phase 2 merger with Asda in 2018-2019

Professional experience

Juliane is an active member of Linklaters’ Social Impact programme. She mentors young people from disadvantaged backgrounds as part of the firm’s Realising Aspirations partnership with Mentoring Works. 

Juliane is also proud of her role in two significant multi-jurisdictional studies for Penal Reform International.

Education and qualifications

Juliane obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Jurisprudence from St Catherine’s College, University of Oxford in 2013 and a Master of Laws from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2014. In 2015, she completed the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in London. 

She also holds Postgraduate Diplomas in EU Competition Law (2018) and Economics for Competition Lawyers (2020) from King’s College London.  

Juliane speaks native German, fluent English, operationally proficient French, intermediate Norwegian and beginner in Spanish.
