Overview

Michael Deane is an English solicitor based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. He has extensive experience advising financial institutions and companies on a wide range of capital markets transactions governed by English and German law.

Michael’s practice covers the full spectrum of capital markets products, including debt and equity-linked instruments, structured finance and OTC derivatives (covering all major asset classes).

Work highlights

Michael's experience includes:

  • Volkswagen: advising the Bookrunners on multiple issuances of Guaranteed Bonds, with a cumulative principal amount of US$28.5bn.
  • ASFiNAG: advising the Bookrunners on multiple issuances of Bonds guaranteed by the Republic of Austria, with a cumulative principal amount of €3.85bn.
  • QIAGEN: advising on the issuance of US$500m Cash Settled Convertible Bonds.
  • Allianz: advising the Bookrunners on the concurrent issuance of US$1.25bn and €1.25bn Restricted Tier 1 Bonds.
  • Various corporates: advising on the negotiation and documentation of ISDA trading documents and OTC derivatives transactions thereunder (including total return swaps, equity derivatives, credit default swaps and interest rate swaps).
  • auxmoney: advising on multiple public securitisations of consumer credit receivables via the auxmoney credit platform.
  • Solas Capital: advising an ESG-focused investment fund on multiple asset-based financings backed by the European Investment Bank’s LIFE Programme.
 

Professional experience

Michael joined Linklaters in 2018. 

Prior to joining the firm, he worked at the Financial Conduct Authority and an international law firm in London. 

 

Education and qualifications

Michael studied Law with American Law at the University of Nottingham and the University of Connecticut.

He speaks English and German.
