Overview
David is a Partner in the Litigation, Arbitration & Investigations team in London. David is an experienced commercial litigator and advises clients on a broad range of complex, high-value and/or reputationally sensitive commercial disputes and investigations.
David has extensive experience in advising clients on large-scale litigation proceedings, including funded group litigation, M&A disputes, ESG litigation, and technology and professional services disputes.
David regularly works in close collaboration with lawyers from other jurisdictions on cross-border litigation and with lawyers from the firm’s other market-leading practice areas, including ESG, TMT, and R&I.
Work highlights
David’s recent experience includes:
- Advising a financial institution on expedited proceedings successfully to obtain a final anti-suit injunction to restrain proceedings brought in a foreign jurisdiction and valued in excess of US$ 400m.
- Advising on the defence of funded group litigation proceedings relating to vehicle emissions.
- Advising on a significant shareholder dispute, resolved by mediation.
- Advising a large corporate on claims against a supplier in relation to the failure of a significant technology implementation project.
- Advising auditors and audited companies on high-value professional negligence claims.
- Advising a financial institution on various disputes arising from a contentious restructuring of debts in excess of £2bn.
- Advising the Joint Administrators of various Lehman Brothers entities on a cross-border dispute valued in excess of US$ 260m.
- Advising the respondent to a complaint under the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.
David is also heavily involved in the firm’s pro bono practice, including advising on miscarriage of justice cases and proceedings before the First-Tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum).
Professional experience
David is a regular contributor to firm seminars and webinars on topics including ESG litigation, AI litigation and class actions.
David has also undertaken three client secondments, where he worked as part of the in-house legal teams managing significant commercial disputes and internal investigations.
Education and qualifications
David obtained a Bachelor of Arts (first class) in History from the University of York, before completing his GDL, LPC and MA (Law and Business) at BPP Law School.
David has subsequently undertaken an ESG focused learning programme with the Saïd Business School.
