Overview

Emma is a managing associate in the firm’s London office with specialised experience in cross-border public and private M&A transactions, including demergers and corporate restructurings. She also has a broad range of experience advising on corporate governance, including providing strategic board level advice to listed companies.

Emma has spent time in our Hong Kong office as well as on secondment to Anglo American.

Work highlights

Emma has advised on many high-profile corporate transactions. Particular highlights include advising:

  • Anglo American: on the demerger of its South African thermal coal operations, Thungela Resources.
  • Anglo American: on its £405m acquisition of Sirius Minerals.
  • Investec: on the demerger and listing of its asset management business (Ninety One).
  • Capita: on the sale of its payment services business (Pay 360). 
  • Mondi: on the simplification of its existing structure from a dual listed company structure to a single UK listed holding company structure.
  • Deloitte: on the APAC business re-organisation and creation of Deloitte Asia Pacific.

Professional experience

Emma has spent time in our Hong Kong office as well as on secondment to Anglo American.

Emma has also advised:

  • Anglo American: on the transfer of its platinum group metals investments to a venture capital fund.
  • Westfalia International, the world’s largest avocado producer: on the sale of an interest to Harvard Management Company.
  • Cory Energy: on its intra-group re-organisation in connection with a refinancing.
  • Scottish Power: on an intra-group re-organisation of its non-operational energy assets.
  • OMERS Infrastructure and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan: on the £2.1bn disposal of the High Speed 1 rail link.
  • Cerberus: on the acquisition of a majority stake in Staples’ European business.

Education and qualifications

Emma holds a first-class Law degree from Durham University.
