Overview

Niclas heads the Litigation, Arbitration & Investigations Practice in Stockholm and specialises in arbitration and civil litigation as well as contentious regulatory including matters involving allegations of fraud and corruption.

Niclas has acted as counsel and arbitrator in a large number of arbitration cases, both ad hoc and institutional, and has extensive experience of injunctive relief, setting aside proceedings, enforcing of arbitration awards and cross-border asset tracing relief. Niclas also has considerable experience of complex civil litigation having represented clients before various courts, including the Swedish Supreme Court.

In addition to his arbitration and litigation work, Niclas advises global financial institutions and corporations on their most sensitive and complex regulatory investigations, including matters involving allegations of fraud and corruption.

Niclas has experience of representing private parties and state entities in a variety of areas including: professional liability; share and asset purchases; agency and distribution; joint ventures; corporate & regulatory; intellectual property; competition; product liability and employment.

Niclas regularly represents clients within the sectors of banking and finance, professional services, pharmaceuticals & healthcare, energy, natural resources, information and communication technologies, industrials and real estate. 

Niclas has spent two periods of secondment in the firm’s London and New York offices respectively, expanding his global network and furthering his experience and expertise.

 

Professional experience

Niclas is a lecturer in arbitration and procedural law at Uppsala University and for the Master of Laws in International Commercial Arbitration at Stockholm University.

He is a regular speaker at conferences and seminars, and is also a widely published legal writer.

Education and qualifications

Niclas holds master’s degrees from Harvard Law School and Uppsala University.

Niclas served as a clerk and a junior judge in the Stockholm District Court from 1999 to 2000.
