Linklaters appoints Niranjan Arasaratnam as TMT partner
Linklaters has appointed Niranjan Arasaratnam as a partner in the firm’s Technology, Media and Telecoms (TMT) practice, based in the Singapore office.
Niranjan joined Linklaters in April from Australian alliance firm Allens, where he had most recently headed the firm's corporate practice. He has been practising in the communications and media industries for over 20 years - with the last 16 years as a partner of Allens - and his practice covers all corporate, commercial and regulatory aspects of technology, media and telecommunications law including M&A, joint ventures, outsourcing and procurements. He has acted for TMT clients such as Experian, Hutchison Telecommunications and Disney in Australia and Asia, having spent four years in Allens' China offices.
Niranjan joins Linklaters to co-head the firm's global TMT Sector.
The move is an example of the strength of the strategic alliance between Allens and Linklaters, and will help further collaboration between the two TMT teams. Niranjan will remain closely connected to Allens in Australia on client work, knowledge sharing and business development.
Richard Cumbley, Linklaters’ Global Head of TMT & IP said:
“Niranjan is an excellent addition to the practice and his experience across both the TMT practice and sector means that he is the perfect fit for our team, building our capability in key Asian markets. His deep knowledge of the TMT sector, combined with his corporate experience in TMT transactions in Asia, gives us a real edge in the market. No one in Asia has Niranjan’s sector focus. He is a key plank in the firm’s strategy to drive deeper penetration in the TMT market across all practice areas.”
Niranjan Arasaratnam said:
"I left Linklaters as a three-years qualified lawyer in the late 90s for Australia, and on my return I am delighted to see that the culture of collaboration and respect for one's colleagues remains – as does the culture of excellence in everything we do for clients.”
