Target Case studies

By 2030, end the epidemics of AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and neglected tropical diseases and combat hepatitis, water-borne diseases and other communicable diseases

We advised Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance on its global COVAX Covid-19 vaccination initiative, which pools the resources of the world’s developed economies to finance the research and development, procurement and distribution of a Covid-19 vaccine, in an equitable and fair manner, across the world to developed and developing countries alike.

During the onset of Covid-19, Joining Forces for Africa (‘JOFA’) received a €10 million grant from the European Commission to enable delivery of enhanced child protection programmes in five countries: Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Senegal and Uganda  JOFA is an alliance, and as lead NGO, Plan International Germany needed quick practical legal support to make sure the project's framework worked and that all parties could access the funds necessary to reach as many children as possible. Three of our lawyers stepped up to support Plan pro bono, drafting the key project delivery document and advising Plan on their obligations as the party responsible for receipt and allocation of grant funding

Thanks to the team's input, JOFA were able to begin project delivery in August 2020. Over the next three years, they aim to support 718,000 children, over 3,000 child protection service providers and 23,000 parents and caregivers through the provision of programmes and training.

By 2030, reduce by one third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment and promote mental health and well-being

We have been awarded the ‘Excelling’ accreditation mark by the City Mental Health Alliance (‘CMHA’) in its Thriving at Work assessment for the second year in a row since its inception. The firm has received the highest-level accreditation mark that can be awarded which recognises best practice in developing mental health and wellbeing strategies.

The CMHA’s Thriving at Work assessment is designed to help organisations measure their progress as they work to build mentally healthy workplaces. It is based on evidence-based standards set out in the CMHA’s Thriving at Work Guide. This year, the Standards were updated to introduce the integration of mental health across the employee lifecycle, including through supplier engagement and a stronger focus on inclusion and diversity.
