Overview

Kate is an associate in the Finance Group. Kate’s practice focuses on transactional and advisory matters related to derivatives. Currently, Kate is representing both buy- and sell-side institutions on the negotiation and implementation of initial margin (IM) documentation for uncleared derivatives. Kate has also worked with ISDA on developing and publishing the ISDA Clause Library and ISDA’s collaboration with Linklaters on ISDA Create. Kate has also represented ISDA and advised market participants on credit derivatives industry initiatives including ISDA auction hardwiring and related protocols. Kate has worked on review projects and other advisory work for clients, including swap counterparties, issuers and noteholders in structured finance facilities.

Notable matters in which Kate has been involved include:

  • Several dealers: representing in connection with the implementation of margin regulation compliant documentation for uncleared derivatives.
  • Multiple hedge funds and asset managers: advising in connection with regulatory initial margin related matters in phases 4 and 5.
  • International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA): advising on the ISDA Clause Library from development to publication providing standard-form drafting options for clauses used within the Schedule to the ISDA Master Agreements and Credit Support Documents.
  • International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA): collaborating with ISDA on ISDA Create - the online solution designed to streamline negotiation, increase transparency in the negotiation process and produce accessible data for users.

Education and qualifications

Kate holds a B.A. from the Pennsylvania State University, an M.A. from Hunter College and a J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law
