Specialised Environmental Courts: Belgium’s Judicial Reform Proposal
Belgium is taking a major step towards improving environmental justice. A new legislative proposal is set to introduce specialised environmental courts nationwide, making it quicker and more effective to handle environmental disputes. Building on recent legal reforms, these courts will bring expert knowledge to complex cases and respond to the expected rise in environmental litigation. The proposal has been reviewed by key legal bodies and is namely designed to strengthen prosecution.
