Overview

Juliana is a Partner in the Restructuring & Insolvency team based in London. She has extensive experience advising creditors (including banks and other financial investors), corporate debtors, financial sponsors and insolvency practitioners on a broad range of restructuring and insolvency matters across multiple jurisdictions and sectors.

Juliana has a particular focus on complex cross-border corporate debt restructurings, bank/bond restructurings, debt-for-equity swaps and UK schemes of arrangement, as well as advising on formal insolvencies and business recovery. She is adept at developing strategic solutions to the most complex situations.

During her time at Linklaters, Juliana has spent time in Hong Kong and on secondment to the Loan Capital Markets team at the Royal Bank of Scotland (Natwest).

Juliana is a Linklaters diversity champion.

Work highlights

Juliana has advised on a wide range of market-leading restructurings and insolvencies. These include advising:

  • An adhoc group of RCF lenders on the 2020 ‘standstill’ restructuring of Nordic Aviation Capital, an aircraft leasing company
  • Steinhoff Investment Holdings NV in respect of its UK scheme of arrangement pursuant to which lender consent to its global litigation settlement proposal was successfully obtained
  • Lecta, a pan-European premier paper and packaging producer, on its €800 million debt restructuring
  • the largest single creditor in the c.€5bn restructuring of debt issued by Agrokor, an agribusiness company
  • the senior lenders on the restructuring of bank facilities granted to Brisal, a Portuguese toll road concession
  • an ad hoc committee of bondholders in connection with the US$1.2bn restructuring of debt issued by Metinvest, an international steel and mining group
  • the co-ordinating committee of secured vessel lenders in connection with the US$3bn debt restructuring of ZIM Integrated Shipping Services, an Israeli global container shipping company

Professional experience

Juliana contributes to a wide variety of knowledge and learning activities both internally and to clients. She is also a member of R3 and turnaround management association (TMA).

Education and qualifications

Juliana studied law at Pontificia Universidade Catolica de Sao Paulo, Brazil.

She is bilingual Portuguese and English.
