Overview
Karolis is a managing associate in Linklaters’ Antitrust & Foreign Investment group.
He has extensive experience advising clients on all aspects of EU competition law, including merger control, cartel investigations, abuse of dominance and antitrust compliance issues. Karolis also regularly supports clients on foreign investment rules and other regulatory issues, as well as matters under the new regulatory frameworks such as the EU Foreign Subsidies Regulation and Digital Markets Act.
Karolis has worked across a wide range of industries, including private equity, finance, energy, technology, and telecommunications, offering clients pragmatic, business-focused advice tailored to their specific needs. He is particularly skilled at navigating the complexities of merger control rules, ensuring clients achieve strategic outcomes while remaining compliant with the competition and other regulatory regimes.

- Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan: advising on a number of matters, including its investment in a leading European ophthalmology group and abandoned acquisition of a leading pharmaceuticals company.
- Goldman Sachs: on a number of investments and acquisitions in the technology and finance sectors.
- I Squared Capital: on the acquisition of Arriva, a leading pan-European transport company.
- Hg Capital: advising on the liothyronine excessive pricing investigation, including appeal to the Competition Appeal Tribunal.
- Sovereign wealth fund: advising on the purchase of a stake in a Greek healthcare company and a potential acquisition of a leading energy company.
- Canadian company that invests in, owns, and manages commercial real estate: advising on its acquisition of a c. 25% stake in a real estate asset manager and developer in the UK.
- AustralianSuper: advising on its disposal of its 50% interest in a real estate joint venture company holding UK retail assets.
- Aperam: advising on the acquisition of ELG Haniel.
- Intel: advising on the sale of its memory business to SK Hynix.
- BP: advising on the sale of its Petrochem business to INEOS.
- Vodafone: advising on the combination of its tower infrastructure assets with Telecom Italia and other transformative deals such as spin-off of its tower business.

Professional experience
Karolis joined the firm as an Associate in 2019. Prior to joining Linklaters, he did a traineeship at the European Commission, Directorate-General for Competition.
Education and qualifications
Karolis holds a post-graduate diploma in Economics for Competition Law from King’s College, an LL.M degree (cum laude) in European Competition Law and Regulation from the University of Amsterdam, and a bachelor’s degree from Newcastle University.
Karolis speaks English and Lithuanian.
