Pichitpon (Tun) is widely acknowledged as a leading banking lawyer in Thailand, advising domestic and international clients on complex, cross-border banking and debt restructuring deals. He also acts for clients on M&A, capital markets and projects/energy & infrastructure transactions.

Pichitpon has in-depth knowledge of many sectors, including the automotive, financial services, insurance, chemicals, energy and utilities, including energy transition, food and beverages, healthcare, industrials, infrastructure, transport, real estate, retail and telecoms sectors.

Work highlights

Pichitpon has led on, or played a key role in, many major transactions, including advising:

  • CP Group on its US$10.6bn acquisition of Tesco’s businesses in Thailand and Malaysia and the various banking facilities related to the acquisition – the biggest corporate acquisition in Thailand’s history
  • Maxim’s Caterers Limited on the establishment of Coffee Concepts (Thailand) Co. Ltd. as a joint venture with Fraser & Neave Limited and its affiliates and the acquisition by Coffee Concepts (Thailand) Co. Ltd. of 100% of Starbucks Coffee (Thailand) Co., Ltd. We also advised on the various banking facilities related to the acquisition. 
  • Groupe Casino, the French retailer, on the sale of its investment in one of Thailand’s largest retailers, Big C, and the simultaneous sale of Big C’s interest in a Thai e-commerce business for a total of €3.1bn
  • Bank of Ayudhya Public Company Limited on its acquisition of 100% of the charter capital in SHB Finance Company Limited, a leading consumer finance company in Vietnam.
  • Braskem Netherlands B.V. on its joint venture with Thai Polyethylene Co., Ltd., which is a subsidiary of SCG Chemicals, which aims to produce bio-ethylene from bio-ethanol dehydration
  • Bank of Ayudhaya Public Company Limited on the sale of existing shares in the microfinance company's IPO in Thailand and outside Thailand under the Rule 144A
  • The lenders on the US$800m acquisition financing transaction of 100% shares in Oxiteno S.A. – Industria e Comercio by TereftalicosIndustria e Participacoes Ltda as borrower with the Group of Indorama Venture Public Company Limited.
  • C.P. Retail Development Company Limited and Siam Makro Public Company Limited on the refinancing transaction of the existing loan of C.P. Retail Development Company Limited in an approximate amount of US$4bn to its existing group of lenders.

Education and qualifications

Pichitpon studied law at Chulalongkorn University and gained a master’s in law from the Universities of Melbourne and Canberra.

He speaks Thai and English fluently.
