Overview

Sebastian specialises in public law, in particular environmental and planning law. He regularly advises clients in relation to environmental compliance requirements and on questions of permitting and environmental law in M&A transactions, inter alia regarding emissions control law, water and soil protection law, mining law as well as liability risks under environmental law and their contractual allocation. Furthermore, Sebastian also advises on questions regarding climate change, ESG and product-related environmental law (mainly chemicals law).

He is a member of the Linklaters ESG Working Group.

  • Carrier Global: advising on permitting and environmental law in connection with the acquisition of Viessmann Climate Solutions.
  • Glennmont Partners: advising on permitting and environmental law in connection with the acquisition of a 50% share in Ørsted’s offshore wind farm Borkum Riffgrund 3.
  • KfW: advising on environmental law in connection with the construction of the LNG terminal Brunsbüttel in Germany (together with private partners).
  • Reliance Industries Limited: advising on environmental law in connection with the entry as a strategic lead investor in NexWafe GmbH.
  • TenneT TSO: advising on the planning procedures for high-voltage power lines SuedLink and SuedOstLink.
  • Volkswagen AG: advising on environmental and regulatory law in connection with the IPO of Porsche AG.

Sebastian has been working at Linklaters since 2015, since 2019 as a Managing Associate.

Education and qualifications

Sebastian studied law at the University of Potsdam and the Université Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense.

He speaks German, English and French.
