Linklaters successfully defended one of the leading banks against compensation claims for over PLN 270 million

The Linklaters law firm has successfully represented one of the leading Polish banks in a dispute regarding compensation claims for the amount of over PLN 270 million. The claims were pursued by former clients of Interbrok Investment sp.j., a company offering financial services on the forex markets.

According to media statements, Interbrok, through its activities, exposed a significant number of its clients to multimillion losses. The court proceedings initiated by the former clients of Interbrok against the bank, in which the actions were based, among others, on the assistance in the commission of a crime (Article 422 of the Polish Civil Code), in cases of a highly complex legal and factual nature, Linklaters defended the bank against all of the claimants’ claims and all of the court disputes brought against the bank (which acted as the defendant) regarding claims related to the activities of Interbrok have been finally dismissed.

The bank was represented by Cezary Wiśniewski, head of the Linklaters Warsaw dispute resolution practice and Zbigniew Kruczkowski, counsel.
