Overview

Bruno is an associate in our Belgian Litigation, Arbitration & Investigations practice.

Bruno has broad experience in ESG, climate and human rights litigation, public and regulatory matters — in particular in the energy sector, and business crimes — including international economic sanctions.

Bruno was also an assistant lecturer and an affiliated researcher of the UCLouvain Saint-Louis – Brussels between 2021 and 2024. He frequently publishes on a variety of topics.

Bruno is a passionate advocate for social mobility and has been a mentor of students from disadvantaged backgrounds embarking on a career in the legal sector. Bruno is also a pro bono coordinator and a member of the Green Committee of our Belgian office.

Work highlights

Bruno has worked on a wide range of disputes. Those that can be disclosed include:

  • Advising several companies active in a variety of sectors on recent developments in ESG, including assisting in-scope companies with compliance with the EU Deforestation Regulation
  • Assisting electricity and gas distribution system operators, in challenging new methodologies for the calculation of the energy distribution tariffs imposed by regulators
  • Representing nuclear energy producers in various legal proceedings before the Court of Justice of the EU, the Belgian Constitutional Court, Brussels’ Market Court and other courts for breach of EU law and fundamental rights to property and non-discrimination
  • Advising a multinational company with internal investigations across several jurisdictions
  • Assisting multiple financial institutions and companies navigate through the international economic sanctions imposed by the EU on third countries (including Russia)
  • Defending an investment management firm against damages claims based on alleged wrongful fulfilment of discretionary management obligations

Bruno has been an associate in our Belgian Litigation, Arbitration & Investigations team since 2021. He was also an assistant lecturer and an affiliated researcher of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Constitutional Research of the UCLouvain Saint-Louis – Brussels between 2021 and 2024.

Education and qualifications

Bruno was admitted to the Brussels Bar in 2021 (Finalist Prix George Boels).

He holds a Master of Laws degree in environmental and energy law (LL.M.) from the Stanford University (2024-2025), and a Double Master of Law degree in international and European law from the KU Leuven (2019-2020) and Universität Zürich (2020-2021). He obtained his Bachelor of Law degree from the University Saint-Louis – Brussels (2016-2019; Law Faculty Prize “Prix du Bac”).

Bruno fluently speaks French, English and Portuguese, and has a working knowledge of Dutch.
