Overview

Satindar is a senior partner in the firm’s London Litigation, Arbitration & Investigations practice.

Satindar has advised on some of the biggest and most complex disputes in the London market during his career, including the collapse of BCCI, the Concorde crash, the administration of Lehman Brothers, the phone hacking scandal and, currently, the diesel emissions litigation.

Satindar also has extensive experience advising on the UK Bribery Act, Proceeds of Crime Act, Economic Crime and Transparency Act and sanctions laws (including in relation to investigations commenced by the Serious Fraud Office, HMRC, OFSI and the National Crime Agency).

Work highlights

Satindar's experience includes advising:

  • An international bank: obtaining a UK High Court anti-suit injunction against a sanctioned Russian bank to restrain proceedings commenced in Russia in breach of an arbitration agreement
  • A car finance company: defending allegations of breach of contract and breach of statutory duty in the diesel emissions litigation taking place in the UK High Court
  • Shareholder dispute: advising a shareholder on exit and litigation strategies in a multi-jurisdictional business with potential litigation in the Middle East and multiple common law jurisdictions
  • A large international bank: acting as global sanctions counsel following the invasion of Ukraine, including an independent review in relation to potential breaches of UK sanctions.
  • A large US bank: acting as global sanctions counsel following the invasion of Ukraine, including on sanctions compliant exit mechanisms and obtaining licences from relevant authorities. 
  • A global telecommunications company and its affiliates: acting as global sanctions counsel covering a broad range of sanctions regimes, jurisdictions of concern (including Russia and Iran) and reporting obligations, across a wide range of countries.
  • Global reinsurance broker: advising on corruption investigations regarding business in Latin America, including reports to the SFO, NCA and DOJ.
  • A defence company: advising on corruption allegations and related investigations by the UK’s SFO and the US DOJ.
  • Global infrastructure company: advising on corruption investigations in multiple jurisdictions, including reports to the SFO, NCA and DOJ.
  • UK construction business: internal gifts & hospitality investigation.
  • Compliance and governance: undertaking multiple compliance reviews, including pre and post M&A, making and implementing remediation recommendations for anti-corruption, AML and sanctions procedures.
