Overview

Teresa is a Managing Associate in the Finance and Energy & Infrastructure Department in the Lisbon office. Her practice focuses on Banking & Finance Law, such as project finance and structured finance transactions, including acquisitions, sale of loan portfolios, syndicated facilities and real estate finance. 

Over recent years, Teresa has been involved in several project financings and refinancings, as well as in other project financings with multi-source debt financing involving ECAs and ECA-backed facilities.

Teresa advises national and international clients, such as banks, investment funds and other financial institutions, representing sponsors and lenders and corporate borrowers, both in Portugal and in cross-border mandates in markets such as financial services, real estate and energy & infrastructure.

Teresa’s professional experience further includes commercial contracts and regulatory advice in highly regulated sectors such as the energy sector, as well as legal assistance in the context of the recovery and resolution of credit institutions, and, furthermore, civil, administrative and criminal litigation experience.

In addition to being a legal practitioner. Teresa is also a Teaching Assistant at the Lisbon University Law School, lecturing on Property Law, in particular Rights in Rem, Contract Law and Enforcement Proceedings.

Teresa started her legal career in 2010 with Linklaters as Summer Trainee at the Lisbon and London offices. She then joined Linklaters Lisbon in 2011 as Junior Associate, and further built her career with Linklaters by getting promoted to Associate in 2013 and to Managing Associate in 2021. Currently she is working in the Finance and Energy & Infrastructure Department in Lisbon.

Teresa furthermore did a client secondment at our client Barclays in 2016, in Corporate Banking, gaining valuable insider know how on the financial sector.

Teresa has often invested her time in volunteerism, collaborating with religious and humanitarian institutions, such as Banco Alimentar, an organisation that aims to avoid wasting food by getting it to people who are in need of food.

Teresa is a regular speaker at national conferences on Banking & Finance Law, more specifically on security interests and furthermore on civil procedure matters.

Education

Teresa holds a Law Degree of the School of Law of the University of Lisbon (2010). She furthermore obtained a Master in Law (Civil Law) by the Lisbon University Law School (2015), with a thesis on the extrajudicial enforcement of a pledge. 
Teresa then completed her post-graduate studies in Banking Law (2016) by the same faculty, where she is a Teaching Assistant since 2017, lecturing on Property Law, in particular Rights in Rem, Contract Law and Enforcement Proceedings.

She is a Member of the Centre for Research in Private Law (CIDP), the research and development unit in Private Law of the School of Law of the University of Lisbon. 

Teresa is a Member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 2013.

She speaks Portuguese, English and Italian.
