Overview

Wannes is an associate in the dispute resolution group of Linklaters.
He specializes in domestic and cross-border litigation and national and international arbitration.
His areas of expertise include evidence, (extra-)contractual liability, civil procedure and insurance.
He is an accredited mediator with the Belgian Mediation Commission. 

Professional experience

Wannes is a board member of the ‘Tijdschrift voor procesrecht en bewijsrecht / Revue de droit judiciaire et de la prevue’ and the editor responsible for civil procedure of ‘Nieuw Juridisch Weekblad’.

In the current academic year 2018-2019, he teaches the course ‘Evidence’ as a substitute lecturer in the Master’s programme of KU Leuven.

He is a member of the commission charged with the reform of the Belgian civil code, contributing to “Book 8: Evidence”

He is a regular speaker at national and international conferences

Wannes is the author of the book ‘Bewijs en onrechtmatige daad’ and various articles on evidence, torts, contracts and ADR.

Education and qualifications

Wannes is a law graduate (Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees) and a Doctor of Laws (PhD) of KU Leuven. During his studies, he completed an Erasmus programme at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.

Before joining Linklaters, he carried out postdoctoral research as a visiting research scholar at Yale Law School (B.A.E.F. and Fulbright fellowships).
