Overview
Fredrik is a counsel and Head of the Antitrust & Foreign Investment Group in Spain. He is a dual-qualified Spanish and Swedish lawyer advising companies not only in Spain but across Europe, including in the Nordics.
Fredrik has more than two decades of experience in merger control in big-ticket M&A transactions, regulatory investigations (cartels and abuse of dominance), State aid control, and public procurement. He has represented clients before the European Union institutions and courts (including the Court of Justice and the General Court in Luxembourg), as well as before Spanish and Swedish competition and sector regulators and courts, as well as in public procurement reviews before the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
Fredrik’s expertise spans a wide range of industries and sectors, including financial services, digital platforms, energy (including nuclear power), construction and telecommunications.
Experience
- Advised Orange Spain on Spanish competition law aspects of its broadband fibre JV with Vodafone.
- Advised a global financial sponsor on Swedish FDI aspects of a transaction in the energy sector which was approved in Phase 2 subject to conditions.
- Advised Adevinta on Spanish merger control aspects of its sale of Adevinta Spain to EQT.
- Advised Nestlé on its bottling cooperation with Damm.
- Advised Acerinox on European merger control aspects of its acquisition of Haynes International. This deal was conditionally approved in Phase 2 in Austria and unconditionally in other jurisdictions.
- Advised Banco Santander on appeals against a fine imposed by the Spanish competition authority in relation to syndicated lending and financial derivates.
- Advised PostNord on Swedish merger control aspects of its acquisition of 21grams. This deal was conditionally approved in Phase 2.
- Advised Rhone Capital on EU merger control aspects of the merger between Zodiac and Fluidra. This deal was conditionally approved in Phase 1 by the European Commission.
- Advised ACS on EU merger control aspects of its acquisition of Hochtief.
