Overview
Nick trained at Linklaters, and has completed two six-month secondments to the Singapore office. He has a broad international practice which covers people-related investigations, litigation, M&A, and strategic HR and employment law advice.
As a Solicitor-Advocate, Nick has a strong track-record advising clients on bringing and defending high-value and reputationally-sensitive claims. He has successfully acted on various employment tribunal and High Court claims. As well as taking cases to full hearing, Nick has experience of using alternative dispute resolution (including mediation). His work often involves co-ordinating closely with clients and their PR advisers on crisis and reputation management.
Nick also advises clients on undertaking complex and sensitive internal investigations and their responses to regulatory investigations. He has acted as the impartial investigator of serious complaints against senior staff within his clients’ businesses.
Drawing on his experience working in Singapore and elsewhere, Nick’s transactional practice involves advising clients on complex cross-border deals, outsourcings and group reorganisations, including post-deal integration, restructuring and incentivisation issues.
Many of Nick’s clients turn to him for advice on high-profile senior hires and exits, whistleblowing, and employment policies and procedures. He regularly provides training to senior stakeholders in legal, HR and C-Suite roles.
In 2017, Nick was seconded to Uber’s Employment Law team in Singapore, where he advised on HR, employment law and remuneration issues across 19 countries in Asia-Pacific. He has also spent time on secondment to Unilever in London and Rotterdam.
With a keen interest in diversity, equity and inclusion, Nick is an active member of Linklaters’ LGBT+ network and our UK social mobility employee forum. He also regularly contributes to the firm’s pro bono programs.

- Astrea Asset Management on the successful defence in the Employment Tribunal and the Employment Appeal Tribunal to multi-million pound claims, including on several novel points of law not previously considered by the courts
- Reckitt on successfully defending the client in the Employment Tribunal, Employment Appeal Tribunal and Court of Appeal in relation to a multi-million-pound claim for unlawful age discrimination
- A professional basketball player on a pro bono basis, on a successful claims against his former club for breach of contract, unpaid wages and holiday pay, both before the Employment Tribunal (including conducting the advocacy) and the Employment Appeal Tribunal
- A UK-listed company on an impartial investigation into a complaint of harassment that was made by an anonymous whistleblower against a director
- A regulated insurance business on an impartial investigation into allegations of impropriety against the CEO
- EY Global on the proposed separation of its global audit and consulting businesses
- CK Hutchison on the sale to Cellnex of its telecommunication towers business in six European countries
- G4S plc on the employment aspects of the sale of its international cash handling business across more than a dozen jurisdictions
- Ameriprise Financial on the global employment law issues arising out of its acquisition of BMO Financial Group’s EMEA asset management business
- A US-headquartered financial services company on terminating a highly paid employee for breach of its information security policy, and pre-action steps (including preparing for an urgent application to the High Court) to protect the client’s highly confidential information
- Sanofi on the employment and HR law issues relating to its US$1.15bn acquisition of Vicebio, a privately held biotechnology company
- DHL on combination of its UK business with Evri, including on various worker status issues and Evri’s innovative relationship with the GMB trade union
