Overview
As a dual English and French-law qualified Counsel in the Litigation, Arbitration & Investigations group, Maria specialises in international arbitration, with a particular focus on the construction, infrastructure, energy and mining sectors.
With over 11 years of experience practising in London and Paris, she has extensive expertise in advising private companies, states and international organisations in arbitrations under all of the major institutional rules (including those of the ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, SCC, DIAC) as well as in ad hoc arbitrations. Maria works in close collaboration with lawyers from the firm’s other market-leading practice areas, in particular Energy & Infrastructure, in cross-office, multidisciplinary teams.
As a result of her unique multicultural background, Maria developed an inherently global practice, with a strong focus on disputes in the Middle East and Latin America. She works in five languages (English, French, German, Spanish and Russian).
Maria has been recognised as a key lawyer in international arbitration by legal directories (Legal 500 France).
Legal 500 describes Maria as “an upcoming star who impresses with her ability to gain knowledge, in a very short time, from a large quantity of extensive documents and based on that, provide spot-on analyses”. She is a “very pragmatic and straight to the point professional”.
Beyond the Office
Maria is a member of the LCIA, ArbitralWomen and the Mute-Off Thursdays arbitral network.
