Overview
Kishore is a Partner in the Financial Regulation Group based in Hong Kong.
He represents banks, broker-dealers, asset managers (including hedge, private equity and credit funds), fintechs, payment firms, insurers and others on regulatory issues than span licensing, conduct of business, systems and controls and risk management.
Kishore deploys these capabilities in a variety of different contexts including:
- implementing regulatory reform;
- helping clients with changes to their business (including new products or services);
- supporting clients in their interactions with regulators in a supervisory or enforcement context; and
- conducting diligence and assisting with transaction execution for acquisitions and disposals in the regulated space.
Kishore is also recognised a Next Generation Partner in Legal 500, and Up and Coming in Chambers Greater China Region: Financial Services (International Firms).
Work Highlights
Kishore’s experience has included advising:
- A number of global investment banks and asset managers in Asia on regulatory change projects, including in relation to extraterritorial impacts of UK and EU regulatory overlays
- Several established and new-to-market firms on the impact of the various regulatory reforms in Hong Kong that touch on virtual assets, including the regime for Virtual Asset Service Providers
- A U.S. based asset manager on the regulatory aspects of its acquisition and take-private of a listed investment trust in the private credit space, and its post-close reorganisation
- Several global banks with a significant presence in Asia on the Securities and Futures Commission’s Hong Kong “Investor Identity” regime
- A global insurer on an end-to-end review and calibration of its market abuse framework
- A global investment bank on the regulatory aspects attached to the disposal of its fund investment platform, and post-sale cooperation agreement
- A new-to-market platform for providers and recipients of trade financing solutions, including proof of concept and ongoing regulatory perimeter advice
