Overview
Sam is a managing associate in Linklaters’ Derivatives and Financial Markets practice in London, focusing on a wide variety of financial markets matters. He advises banks, fintechs and market participants on complex and novel projects at the intersection of financial regulation, technology and market structure, with particular expertise in payment systems, capital markets infrastructure, stablecoins, digital assets, digital bonds and tokenised money.
Sam has been closely involved in several first of their kind and strategically important initiatives. His key experience includes advising UK Finance on the experimentation and pilot phases of the GBTD project, which aims to develop a novel payment system using distributed ledger technology, with a particular focus on tokenised deposits. He has also advised on the launch and scaling of several multi jurisdictional innovative payment systems, including a system designed to support cross-border trade using stablecoins.
Sam also has considerable experience with OTC derivatives and their related collateral arrangements, with particular experience with credit derivatives and regulatory initial margin arrangements.
Sam also advises on Collateralised Loan Obligation (CLO) transactions, and has experience advising arrangers, managers and investors on broadly syndicated and middle market CLOs.
