Alexander Zitzl

Overview

Alexander has specialised experience in national and international transaction related tax advice including international tax structuring and special expertise in national and international VAT law. His experience includes cross-border portfolio and large single asset transactions in all asset classes.

Legal 500 recognises him as a "Leading Associate", and Handelsblatt features him in its Best Lawyers ranking since 2022 as "One to Watch" in the field of tax law.

Work Highlights

• Allianz Direct: advising on the acquisition of pan European insurance portfolios from iptiQ and FRIDAY.
• BlackRock: advising on the acquisition of a stake in the leading European highpower charging network company IONITY.
• Fosun: advising on the sale of Privatbank Hauck Aufhäuser Lampe to ABN AMRO Bank.
• Mondi: Advising on the sale of its personal care components (PCC) business to Nitto Denko Corporation.
• UniCredit Bank: advising on the sale of the offshore wind farm Bard Offshore 1, the first commercial offshore wind farm in Germany, to a group of funds.
• Zeppelin-Gruppe: advising on the acquisition of the distribution of Caterpillar products in Sweden, Denmark and Greenland and of MaK engines in the Baltic States, Finland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands.

Beyond the Office

Alexander worked as a research assistant at the University of Münster during his education. He joined Linklaters in 2016 and was appointed Managing Associate in 2020.

He is a member of the European VAT Club and the Umsatzsteuer Forum e.V. Association for the Scientific Maintenance of VAT Law.

Education and Qualifications

Alexander studied law at the University of Regensburg. He completed his legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Hamburg.

He speaks German and English.
