"I am an investment funds specialist, advising sponsors on all aspects of fund formation and ongoing fund operations, as well as representing institutional investors with respect to their fund investments, co-investments and secondary transactions. I work across asset classes, with a particular focus on real estate and venture capital. I truly enjoy getting to know my clients and deepening my knowledge of the sectors that they operate in, allowing me to provide tailored advice that takes into consideration the broader commercial context."

Ben is a partner in our investment funds practice who focuses on real estate and venture capital funds, working for a broad range of sponsor and investor clients on fund formation, fund investments and the regulatory framework in which they operate.

Work Highlights

Aermont Capital: advising on the establishment of their fifth-generation European-focused opportunistic €3.78bn real estate fund, and previously their fourth generation (€2bn) and third generation (€1.5bn) funds.
Aermont Capital: advising on the establishment of their first GP-led secondary vehicle / continuation Fund that was established to acquire and grow the Pinewood Group.
SoftBank: acting as fund counsel for their market-leading approximately US$100bn SoftBank Vision Fund, the largest private equity or VC fund ever established.
BlackRock: advising on their Europe- and Asia-focused value-add real estate funds and open-ended core pan-European real estate fund.
Clarion Partners Europe: advising on the establishment of its €1bn fund set up to acquire and develop logistics assets across Europe.
The British Business Bank, Nestlé Ventures, OMERS Ventures and a number of sovereign wealth funds and pension fund clients: advising on their investments in a range of venture capital, private equity, real estate, hedge and credit funds, as well as on significant co-investment deals.

Beyond the Office

Ben completed a six-month secondment at LaSalle Investment Management in the global funds counsel team, advising on LaSalle’s global product offering, and Ben has also completed a six-month secondment at RBS as part of the UK Investor Products team.

Education and Qualifications

Ben studied law at Downing College, Cambridge.
