Overview
Daniel is a counsel and a member of our corporate team in Singapore.
He has extensive experience in advising financial sponsors on M&A transactions across Asia and regularly advises banks and insurers on their M&A transactions and distribution arrangements.
Daniel is Malaysian, Malaysia-qualified and fluent in Bahasa Melayu and has deep familiarity regarding the nuances of advising on transactions in Malaysia.
Experience
- Macquarie Asset Management: advising, as part of a consortium, on its c.US$610m acquisition of a significant minority stake in Bersama Digital Infrastructure Asia Pte. Ltd., which holds a 62.4% stake in Indonesia-listed PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk., a leading independent telecom towers business in Indonesia with over 20,500 towers and 39,000 tenancies. This is one of the largest foreign investments into the Indonesian digital infrastructure sector.
- Macquarie Asset Management: advising on the sale to Macquarie Green Energy and Climate Opportunities Fund of a diversified portfolio of renewables assets across Asia.
- Actis: advising on its up to c.US$100m investment into Argo Energy, a South Korean renewable energy platform focused on the development of small utility scale and rooftop solar, with 110MW already in operation or advanced development and a target portfolio of over 400MW. This is Actis’ first renewables investment in South Korea.
- A global insurer: advising on its proposed bid to acquire the life insurance and family takaful joint venture entities of AmBank and MetLife in Malaysia and the entry into a long-term life bancassurance agreement with AmBank.
- CIMB Thai: advising on its entry into a long-term life bancassurance agreement with Prudential.
- Kasikornbank: advising one of Thailand’s largest banks on the takeover of IDX-listed PT Bank Maspion Indonesia Tbk., by way of acquiring a combination of secondary and primary shares, followed by a mandatory tender offer.
- Liberty Insurance: advising on its MYR2.29bn acquisition of AmGeneral Insurance Berhad from AMMB Holdings Berhad and Insurance Australia Group.
- MetLife: advising on its sale of its Hong Kong life insurance business to FWD Management Holdings Limited.
