Overview

Douglas is a counsel within the firm’s Banking practice, based in Hong Kong. Douglas started his career in London and has wide ranging international cross border finance experience in Europe and Asia, with a particular focus on advising banks and other financial institutions on significant cross-border leveraged financing transactions and private credit funds on their most complex financing arrangements across Asia Pacific.

Douglas also has significant experience and expertise advising on margin loans, unitranche financings, back leverage products and minority stake and other structured financing solutions. Douglas has spent time seconded to Alcentra (a global asset management firm based in London focused on sub-investment grade corporate credit) and KKR in Singapore.

Experience

Advised the lead structuring banks on the financing of the AU$24bn acquisition by Blackstone and the buyer consortium formed with Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) of AirTrunk, a leading Asia Pacific data centres platform.
Advised the lenders on the financing of the acquisition by TPG-owned Altimetrik of SLK Software, a Bengaluru-based technology company known for AI, intelligent automation and analytics.
Advised the arrangers and lenders on the AU$580m syndicated term and revolving debt financing for the private acquisition of Vet Partners by EQT, a leading Australian and global veterinary clinics group.
Advised the mandated lead arrangers on the US$1.5bn certain funds financing for a consortium led by Starwood Capital, Sixth Street and SSW Partners, and others, in connection with their proposal to privatise ESR Group by way of scheme of arrangement from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
Advising Bharti Global on the financing for its proposed acquisition of 24.5% of BT Plc.
The Lenders on several private margin loan transactions for various leading private equity sponsors, in relation to leveraging their existing investments in businesses across Asia Pacific.
Advising KKR Credit in connection with their US$600m financing for the Manipal Group, being KKR’s largest credit investment in India at the time.
Advising the mandated lead arrangers on AirTrunks AU$16bn (ex Japan) refinancing transactions covering key greenfield and operational assets across Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.

Douglas holds a B.A. and LL.B. (Hons) from Trinity College Dublin. He is admitted in England and Wales.
