Overview

Matt is a Senior Associate in Linklaters’ Litigation, Arbitration & Investigations practice in New York.

Prior to joining the firm, Matt served as a prosecutor for the U.S. Department of Justice. As a Trial Attorney in the Tax Division, he co-chaired multiple jury trials involving charges of tax evasion and other white-collar crimes.

He clerked for the Hon. Stephen A. Higginson of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the Hon. Michael W. Mosman of the United States District Court for the District of Oregon.

Experience

Complex Commercial Litigation:

Pharmaceutical company: representing as plaintiff asserting claims for tortious interference with contract and deceptive trade practices, arising out of the alleged misappropriation of patient assistance funds.
Energy company: pursuing breach of contract and antitrust claims against an energy supplier.
Metals manufacturer: defending against misappropriation of trade secrets and breach of contract claims.

Pro bono:

House of worship: filed a federal civil rights action and secured a settlement on behalf of a mosque, permitting the expansion and renovation of the mosque and securing monetary damages and attorney’s fees.
House of worship: obtained special use permit for a synagogue in contentious land-use proceeding.

Education, Qualifications, Languages

Matt obtained his Juris Doctor from Stanford Law School where he served as a Notes Editor of the Stanford Law Review. He was a member of the Supreme Court Litigation Clinic and the Prosecution Clinic.

He received a Bachelor of Arts, with Highest Distinction, in Political & Social Thought from the University of Virginia.
