Overview
Rhian has a broad tax practice which includes M&A, reorganisations and advisory tax work. She specialises in tax for financial institutions and corporates, covering both corporate and finance transactions, as well as heading up the real estate tax practice. She is well-versed in the tech and fintech sectors.
Rhian was seconded for seven months to the tax team at Credit Suisse in 2019 to help with the implications of Brexit, and has also been seconded to Nasdaq in Stockholm. These secondments, combined with her technical expertise, enable Rhian to tailor her advice to clients’ commercial requirements.
Work Highlights
Rhian has advised on the tax aspects of many market-leading transactions. These include advising:
- Thermo Fisher Scientific on its acquisition of Binding Site for US$2.6bn
- Anglo-American on the demerger of its thermal coal operations in South Africa
- Nestlé on the disposal of its skin healthcare business and on other M&A transactions
- Ho Bee Land, a property group listed on the mainboard of the Singapore Exchange, on its acquisition of “The Scalpel”, a prestigious Grade A office tower at 52 Lime Street in London for £718 million
- Prologis on various fund related issues, including establishment of real estate investment trusts (REITs)
- The UK HM Treasury and the issuer on the the first issuance of sovereign sukuk outside of the Islamic world in 2014
