Overview

Sabine is very experienced in restructuring and insolvency situations. She advises lenders where borrowers are facing insolvency or financial distress, including controlled enforcement situations, as well as corporates on restructuring, including the compliance with management duties. In addition, Sabine is specialised in advising shareholders and investors in turnaround situations, including where an acquisition target company is facing insolvency, as well as generally on distressed M&A transactions.

 

Work highlights

Sabine has acted for clients on a wide range of restructuring transactions. These include advising:

  • KfW on the DIP-financing of the Air Berlin Group
  • the senior lenders’ ad hoc committee on the financial restructuring of H.C. Starck Group, a chemical and metallurgical company with operations in Europe, North America and Asia
  • E.ON on the withdrawal from conventional energy businesses
  • Weltbild Publishing Group on its restructuring as well as the insolvency administrator Arndt Geiwitz
  • a group of Noteholders in relation to the Chapter 11 based DIP-Financing of the Toys “R“ Us group and the realisation of security in context with the German business
  • the agent in relation to the US$2bn Petroplus facility and the enforcement of security

Professional experience

Sabine is a founding member of Distressed Ladies/Women in Restructuring, which advises women in business facing company restructuring. From time to time Sabine teaches insolvency law at the European Business School. She was seconded to the legal department of an international industrial service provider in 2011.

Sabine studied law and holds a doctorate from Humboldt-University of Berlin.
