Overview

Gavin specialises in cross-border commercial litigation and complex investigations. His clients include well-known corporates, professional services firms, financial institutions, and funds. In his litigation practice he advises clients in managing cross-border litigation across the UK, Middle East, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the US. He represents clients defending group claims and has extensive experience of shareholder litigation.

Experience

Representing Endeavour Mining plc in relation to the investigation and dismissal of its former CEO.
Financial services firm: acting in relation to an investigation concerning a collapsed investment fund and defence of the related class litigation.
Extensive experience in high value shareholder disputes in the English and Hong Kong Courts.
An international bank: an internal investigation and related investigation by HMRC into alleged breaches of trade sanctions.
Barclays Bank: representing the bank in relation to an FCA enforcement investigation concerning its customer Premier FX, leading to a negotiated Final Notice and fine.
UK retail banks: acting on several FCA investigations, including in relation to whistleblowing, and in relation to financial crime investigations.
In 2019 he spent six months on secondment in the Enforcement Division at the Financial Conduct Authority.
Gavin has in-house experience as a Managing Director responsible for litigation and regulatory inquiries across Asia-Pacific at UBS from 2006 to 2008.
