Overview
Gregory is a Managing Associate in our Litigation, Arbitration and Investigations practice, based in London. He has acted in cross-border and cross-practice teams to advise creditors, companies and insolvency practitioners on contentious issues arising from complex multi-jurisdictional restructurings, formal insolvency proceedings and sensitive corporate distress situations.
Gregory has also acted on various high-value and complex cross-border commercial disputes.
In addition to his work in the Litigation, Arbitration and Investigations practice, Gregory has spent time on secondment to our Restructuring & Insolvency team, in London.
Work Highlights
Gregory has advised on various market-leading deals, including:
- Thames Water: advising the UK's largest water provider on its ongoing restructuring process, including its 2025 liquidity extension transaction implemented via a part 26A Restructuring Plan in the High Court and Court of Appeal.
- Bulb Energy Ltd: acting for the special administrators on various aspects of the first ever energy supply company administration including the transfer of Bulb’s business to Octopus Energy by way of an energy transfer scheme and subsequent judicial review proceedings.
- Steel company: representing a global company in defence of a Bermudian claim relating to its African mining assets.
- Steinhoff: acting for the South African retail group on various aspects of its €10bn multi-jurisdictional restructuring and global settlement of legacy litigation liabilities, including successfully defending Steinhoff’s proposal from challenge by a creditor before the English courts and advising on inter-conditional statutory compromise processes in the Netherlands and South Africa.
- Yunneng Wind Power Co: acting for the owner and operator of a Taiwanese wind farm on the restructuring of its €2.9bn financial debt implemented by way of a Part 26A Restructuring Plan (which was the first ever scheme or restructuring plan by a Taiwanese company).
- Haya Real Estate: advising the group on its recapitalisation and the refinancing of its €400m+ senior secured notes through an English law scheme of arrangement procedure and a Spanish law homologacion process.
- Beaufort: acting for the special administrators of an investment bank on the return of client assets to retail customers.
- Agrokor: acting for a major creditor on cross-jurisdictional litigation in relation to the Agrokor restructuring, the largest corporate crisis that the Croatian economy has faced.
