Overview

Kenneth represents debtors, credit funds, lenders and officeholders across the full spectrum of restructuring and insolvency in multiple Asian jurisdictions, including bond & loan portfolio restructurings, debt-to-equity swaps, security enforcement and formal insolvency proceedings. Having previously worked in the firm’s Hong Kong SAR office, he has extensive transaction experience in the Greater China region.

Experience

Advised major Chinese real estate developers on the holistic restructuring of their offshore debt, including Country Garden (c.US$17bn debt restructuring), China Aoyuan (c.US$7.3bn debt restructuring) and Yuzhou Group (c.US$6.7bn debt restructuring).
Advised creditors on a variety of distressed & enforcement mandates, including The LYCRA Company (advised mezzanine lenders on the restructuring and enforcement strategy to take equity control), Baccarat S.A. (advised mezzanine and senior lenders on debt for equity swap) and Essar Steel (advised lender on issues arising from a contested restructuring process).
Advised Genting Hong Kong Limited on its c.US$3.5bn restructuring and c.US$1bn recapitalisation, and subsequently advised the liquidators of Genting Hong Kong Limited on the formal liquidation of the group.

Education, Qualifications and Languages

Kenneth studied law at the National University of Singapore. He is Singapore, English and New York law qualified.
