Marco is a partner in the Firm’s Corporate/M&A group concentrating on advising corporates on their most complex M&A and corporate finance transactions, with a particular focus on cross-border M&A transactions, dual-track (M&A/IPO) processes and carve-out transactions and related pre-deal re-organizations, complex IPOs, Re-IPOs and spin-offs, rights issues and cross-border listings.
In addition to Germany and German corporates, Marco has a long track record as lead adviser on high profile transactions in Switzerland and for Swiss corporates.
When structuring and executing complex multi-jurisdictions deals, Marco benefits from his unique background with German, US and English law qualifications and the broad transactional and international experience he has gained practicing both in London for ten years and Germany for more than 15 years. In particular, having been based in London from 2000 until 2011 gives him a unique perspective when structuring and executing complex multi-jurisdictional deals.
Marco has also been one of the leading corporate finance advisers in Germany and Switzerland over the last 15 years with a very long track record of advising as lead partner on highly complex IPOs (including numerous subsidiary by listed companies), complex spin-offs by listed companies, rights issues and SEC registered and Rule 144A bond offerings (yankee bonds). In addition to advising on German law, he has practiced US law for over two decades, which gives him a unique perspective when leading international corporate finance transactions.

In 2024, Marco won the “German Lawyer of the Year” award at the Legal 500 Germany awards. In 2025, Marco was shortlisted for the “German M&A lawyer of the Year” and again for the “German Lawyer of the Year award at the Legal 500 Germany Awards.
Marco studied law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Vienna, where he subsequently obtained his doctorate with distinction. He later completed a Master of Laws (LL.M.) at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C.
He has been practicing as a lawyer since 1999, joined Linklaters in 2006 and was made a partner in 2011. He is admitted to practice as an Attorney-at-Law in New York and is a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales.
Prior to joining the Firm’s London office in 2006, Marco was an Associate in the General Corporate/M&A group of Skadden, Arps in London, where he advised on a large number of complex M&A and corporate finance transactions in Germany, Switzerland, the Nordics, Benelux, Italy as well as across Europe and emerging markets. Marco has been based in the Firm’s Frankfurt office since 2011.
