Overview
Matt is a managing associate based in the London Corporate team. He advises clients on strategic investments, acquisitions and corporate fundraisings across the technology, industrial and energy sectors, with a focus on high-growth businesses. Matt recently spent several months seconded to Unilever’s in-house M&A team to oversee delivery of the legal elements of the global carve-out and demerger of Unilever’s ice cream business (now The Magnum Ice Cream Company). He also spent 6 months in Linklaters’ Hong Kong office.
Experience
His experience includes advising:
- Unilever PLC: on the carve-out and demerger of its ice cream business (now known as The Magnum Ice Cream Company (TMICC)) and TMICC’s triple listing on the Amsterdam, London and New York stock exchanges
- Moneyfarm: a European digital wealth manager on its £44.1m Series D funding round and its acquisition of Profile Pensions, a UK digital pensions adviser
- Visa: on its £700m acquisition of Currencycloud, a UK-based FX payments business
- Rightmove plc: on its acquisition of Homeviews and other strategic investments in the property technology space
- A consortium of global telecom network providers including AT&T, Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Telefonica, T-Mobile, Verizon and Vodafone: on a first-of-its-kind Network API venture with Ericsson to create a broader ecosystem for developer platforms
- Getir: a European food delivery unicorn, on its £768m Series E funding round
- Biffa plc: on its £1.3b takeover by ECP, a US private equity investor
- X (formerly Twitter): on its acquisition of a push notifications software start-up
- Wickes plc: On its demerger from Travis Perkins and initial public offering on the London Stock Exchange
- Capital on Tap: a UK-based fintech start-up on its intragroup reorganisation
