Overview
Paul Joseph is an intellectual property lawyer based in London.
He advises on both transactions and contentious matters. His transactional work includes advising on global IP licensing, commercialisation, collaboration arrangements and structuring mandates and intellectual property issues arising in the context of M&A, joint ventures and IPOs. He has extensive technology, FinTech, media and retail sector experience. His contentious work has included the litigation and arbitration of copyright, patent, trade mark, data, confidential information and IP licence disputes.
Paul sits on the Licensing Committee of IPOA and is a member of the SCL and AIPPI. Paul is recognised as an IP Star by Managing IP and is ranked for trade mark transactions by WTR.

Transactional IP
- Nestlé S.A.: advising on its setting up of a joint venture with PAI in respect of its frozen pizza business in Europe including long term IP assignment or licence arrangements in respect of the Wagner, Buitoni and Garden Gourmet brands.
- CK Hutchison/Three: advising on complex commercial, technology and IP issues in the context of the merger of Three UK with Vodafone UK, to create the largest mobile operator in the UK. This included long-term brand licensing arrangements and joint venture brand strategy considerations.
- Gymshark: advising on setting up its first franchise and supply arrangement with a leading franchisee platform in the Middle East.
IP Disputes
- an insuretech unicorn company on High Court breach of confidence and trade secrets litigation
- a global pharmaceutical company on parallel import litigation relating to medical devices in the Court of Appeal
- a global retailer on an LCIA arbitration involving the licensing of well known fashion brands
