Overview

Sören advises financial and strategic investors, major corporates and small and large companies on their corporate transactions, including public and private M&A transactions, corporate restructurings and joint ventures. His expertise spans many sectors, including the banking, healthcare, automotive (including automobile parts), IT and telecoms sectors.

Work Highlights

Sören has advised on many of the market’s most significant deals. These include advising:

  • NORD/LB on the acquisition of Bremer Landesbank
  • Erste Abwicklungsanstalt on the restructuring and winding-up of WestLB in the context of the financial market stabilisation
  • HSH Finanzfonds and hsh portfoliomanagement on the stabilisation and restructuring of HSH Nordbank 
  • Federal-Mogul Corp. on the acquisition of the worldwide spark plug business of BorgWarner Inc. and on a worldwide aftermarket distribution agreement for components for diesel engines
  • Fresenius Medical Care on a strategic joint venture with the Galenica Group and its subsidiary Vifor Pharma
  • Hansgrohe on its conversion into a European stock corporation
  • WGZ BANK on its merger with DZ BANK

Professional experience

As part of a Linklaters team, Sören advised the Financial Market Stabilisation Agency (FMSA) on the German Restructuring Act (Restrukturierungsgesetz), in particular by drafting a manual for implementation of the legislation giving powers to the FMSA and the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) to rescue banks by transfer orders.

Education and qualifications

Sören studied law at the University of Augsburg and at the University CEU San Pablo of Madrid, Spain and holds a doctorate from the University of Cologne.

He speaks German, English and Spanish.
