Pay Transparency: Mind the (implementation) gap

Article|
11 June 2026

7 June 2026 was the transposition deadline for the EU Pay Transparency Directive (the ‘EUPTD’).

However, only four Member States have achieved full transposition so far (i.e adopted and published draft): Italy, Lithuania, Malta and Slovakia. Yet implementation activity is rapidly picking up. June is likely the last moment at which drafts will be published before a summer recess of the national parliaments, with no further drafts expected before September. At the date of this publication, 14 Member States had published a draft – though further ones may have done so by the time you read this. For the most current picture, we refer to our implementation tracker below, which is updated on a rolling basis.

This publication is designed to take stock of where we stand and to identify implementation trends, including practical challenges.

Below you can find an overview of what matters most today.
