APAC Power Portfolio Financing Deal of the Year
Adani Gujarat and Maharashtra Transmission line portfolio

Linklaters advised the lenders on the US$700m financing to various subsidiaries of Adani Transmission Ltd structured to fund up to US$1.1bn of capex for four under-construction transmission projects in Gujarat and Maharashtra. This financing is one of the first of its kind by international banks in the transmission sector in India.

APAC Renewables Portfolio Refinancing Deal of the Year
Adani Green Energy Rajasthan Solar PV and Onshore Wind Portfolio

Linklaters advised the mandated lead arrangers and the agent on a significant US$1.35bn facilities agreement for Adani Green Energy in respect of a series of hybrid wind and solar projects in Rajasthan, India.

European Export Finance Deal of the Year
UKEF – Kalyon Enerji’s Karapinar Solar Project, Turkey

Linklaters acted for Kalyon Enerji Yatirimlari AS (large Turkish conglomerate) as project sponsor and borrower in respect of an ECA-backed project financing of a 1,000MW solar plant in Turkey, one of the largest single-site solar power projects in the world.

Kalyon PV solar power plant will be set up on approximately 20 million square meters of land in Konya’s Karapınar district.

European Telecoms Deal of the Year
Unsere Grune Glasfaser, Germany

Linklaters advised UniCredit Bank AG as agent and a syndicate of nine banks on the financing of a JV, Unsere Grüne Glasfaser GmbH & Co KG, in connection with the roll out and operation of an open-access wholesale FTTH (fibre to the home) network in rural and semi-rural regions across Germany.

The JV is owned by the Allianz Group and the Telefónica Group, each holding a 50% stake in the JV. The total value of the financing was €3.35bn.

European Transport Deal of the Year
D4 Haje-Mirotice PPP, Czech Republic

Linklaters advised the lenders and hedging banks on a €474m financing denominated in euros and Czech koruna to a consortium comprising VINCI and Meridiam in connection on the first ever motorway PPP awarded in the Czech Republic.

The project consists in designing, finance, build, operate and maintain a new 32 km motorway and converting 17 km of existing infrastructure into a dual two-lane carriageway. The new highway will provide an improved road connection between rural South Bohemia and Prague, consequently fostering economic and social development, and will also contribute to improving traffic conditions on the country’s major commercial routes, particularly towards neighbouring Germany and Austria.

European EV Charging Deal of the Year
Carrefour EV Charging Stations, France

Linklaters advised Meridiam, a long-term investor specializing in critical infrastructure, on the establishment of a partnership with the Carrefour Group for the deployment of electric vehicle charging stations at sites located in hypermarket parking lots operated by entities of the Carrefour Group in France. The project will provide a fast to ultra-fast charging service ranging from 50 kW to 350 kW, allowing for an "electric fill-up" of between 15 and 45 minutes depending on the vehicle.

Africa Telecoms Deal of the Year
Ethiopia Telecoms Privatisation, Ethiopia

Linklaters advised Sumitomo Corporation on its participation in joint venture with Vodafone, Safaricom, Vodacom and CDC in connection with the historic bid for and successful implementation of the new telecom license granted by the Government of Ethiopia to set up a greenfield private telecom operator. 

The liberalisation will also involve the sale of a 45% stake in Ethio Telecom, which has said it also plans to launch mobile money transfer services. The bid winners will secure full operating licences, but they will not be allowed to operate mobile phone-based financial services.

MENA Transport Deal of the Year
6th of October Dry Port Project, Egypt

Linklaters advised the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on the structured loan facility of US$29.6m (€25m) in favor of October Dry Port Company to finance the design, development, construction and placing into operation and maintenance of the in-land dry port located in 6th of October city in Giza Governorate, in the west urban area of Cairo Egypt.  

MENA Oil & Gas Deal of the Year
Aramco Oil Pipelines Company, Saudi Arabia

Linklaters advised a successful bidder on the multibillion international investment into Saudi Aramco’s oil pipelines.
