Eoin advises clients on all aspects of EU and international competition law and regulation, including merger control, antitrust investigations, foreign investment reviews and digital market regulation. He works across a variety of sectors, with particular experience in life sciences, financial services, and technology.

Work highlights

Highlights of Eoin’s merger control experience include advising:

  • Bayer AG on the sale of its global animal health business to Elanco Animal Health (conditional Phase 1 clearance by the European Commission).
  • Covestro in relation to its US$1.8 bn acquisition of the Resins & Functional Materials business from Royal DSM (unconditional Phase 1 clearance by the European Commission).
  • Linde on its transformational merger with Praxair (conditional Phase 2 clearance by the European Commission).

Highlights of Eoin’s work on behavioural competition investigations and related litigation include representing:

  • A financial services client in relation to the European Commission’s investigation into European Government Bonds.
  • A leading automotive parts supplier in cartel damage claims following worldwide cartel investigations.
  • Google Shopping: advising Kelkoo in its response to Alphabet’s appeal before the Court of Justice of the European Union.

Professional experience

Eoin first joined Linklaters in 2016 after completing a traineeship in the European Commission (DG COMP).

Education and qualifications

Eoin holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Trinity College Dublin. He also holds an LLM in Law and Economics from Universiteit Utrecht.
