Linklaters has advised AtlasEdge, a leading European data centre provider, owned by Liberty Global and DigitalBridge, on the sale of nine data centres located in Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Zurich, Paris, Amsterdam, London, Leeds and Copenhagen to Templus. Templus is one of the largest data centre platforms in Southern Europe.
The transaction reflects AtlasEdge’s strategic focus on larger and more scalable data centre sites. It is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to complete in the first half of 2026.
In 2021, Linklaters advised DigitalBridge on the establishment of the sponsor-backed AtlasEdge platform between DigitalBridge and Liberty Global, and AtlasEdge on the acquisition of twelve European data centres from Colt Technology Services, a global digital infrastructure company, to AtlasEdge.
The global cross-practice team was led by Private Capital Partners Daniel Law and David Martin, TMT Partner Julian Cunningham-Day and Corporate Associate Ludovic Meeus. The team spanned Linklaters’ Corporate, TMT, Tax, ESG, Employment & Incentives and Real Estate practices across the UK, Luxembourg, Spain, France, the Netherlands and Italy.
Linklaters has been involved in some of the digital infrastructure sector’s largest transactions for many years, including advising DigitalBridge on the acquisition of Yondr Group, a global developer, owner and operator of hyperscale data centres earlier this year, and the completion of a US$9.2bn equity investment in Vantage Data Centers across EMEA and North America, led by DigitalBridge and Silver Lake in 2024.
