Overview
Verity is a partner in Linklaters’ London Antitrust & Foreign Investment Group and co-head of the UK technology sector team and Co-Head of Games and Interactive Entertainment.
Verity has over a decade of experience across advisory, investigatory and transactional aspects of competition law in the EU and the UK, including on vertical and abuse of dominance issues. She is particularly familiar with the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority, having spent time on secondment to the CMA’s mergers group, during which she sat on the CMA’s Mergers Intelligence Committee.
Verity is recognised as a leading commentator on competition and regulatory issues in the tech sector and on platform regulation regimes.
Experience
- Advised Viasat on its acquisition on UK merger control aspects of its acquisition of Inmarsat, cleared unconditionally by the CMA in Phase 2
- Advised Sony Interactive Entertainment on the opt-out class action in relation to the PlayStation store and related regulatory proceedings
- Advised Covestro on its acquisition of DSM’s sustainable coating resins business
- Advised an online retail platform on a global cartel investigation, following dawn raids by the European Commission
- Advised a global tech business on engagement with investigations under the EU Digital Market Act and abuse of dominance proceedings in multiple jurisdictions
- Advised a global tech business on its engagement with the CMA’s Digital Markets Unit
- Advised Spirent on its sale to Keysight Inc
- Advised MyTheresa on its merger with Yoox-Net-A-Porter to create LuxExperience
- Advised Intas / Accord Healthcare on the CMA’s investigation into alleged excessive pricing of hydrocortisone tablets and subsequent appeal to the Competition Appeal Tribunal and Court of Appeal
- Advised Sainsbury’s on its proposed merger with ASDA
