Jörg Fried has been working as a lawyer since 1998. He worked for the predecessor firm Oppenhoff & Rädler from 1999 and was elected Counsel at Linklaters in 2005 and Partner in 2021.
Jörg specialises in advising banks and corporates on all legal aspects in the area of financial derivatives, clearing of financial derivatives, repo and securities lending transactions as well as commodity derivatives and commodity trading (in particular energy trading). He has more than 20 years’ experience in advising clients in this area.
Jörg is rated as one of the leading lawyers in the area structured finance and derivatives (Chambers Europe 2025, IFLR 1000 2024 and Legal 500 2025).
He is both, ISDA’s and the German Banking Association’s opinion counsel for the German market netting and collateral opinions.
Jörg is a frequent speaker on conferences and seminars as well as an author of numerous publications on financial derivatives and energy trading matters.
Jörg completed his training as a banker in 1987 and then studied law at the Universities of Geneva and Tübingen, where he also later obtained his doctorate. He has been admitted as a Solicitor for England and Wales since 1999.
