Overview
Maryam is an energy and infrastructure specialist advising on the development, financing and regulation of energy and infrastructure projects globally, as well as on the refinancing and sale and purchase of these assets. As a sector specialist, Maryam’s broad practice sees her providing comprehensive, all-round advice on her transactions.
Maryam has a particular interest in energy transition, nuclear, low carbon energy assets and energy regulation. She also specialises in energy and infrastructure assets within the regulated sectors and has significant experience acting for sponsors, lenders, funds, ECAs and governments on complex, first-in-market transactions.
Work Highlights
Maryam’s experience includes advising:
- the UK Government on the development of the four new nuclear plants in the UK at Bradwell, Sizewell, Wylfa and Moorside, including the development of a Regulated Asset Base model for new nuclear projects
- Greenlink Interconnector and Partners Group on the Greenlink Interconnector project between the UK and Republic of Ireland, the first privately financed interconnector project in Europe
- the CCUS Advisory Group in relation to potential CCUS business and legislative frameworks and Drax on the development and construction of a bioenergy with carbon capture and storage facility at its existing biomass power station in Selby, UK
- Ørsted on the sale of a 50% interest in the Hornsea 2 offshore windfarm
- Nuclear Decommissioning Authority on the acquisition of seven AGR nuclear sites from EDF Energy
- lenders on the financing of the Spalding OCGT power station, the first capacity market project to be project financed
