Overview

Kirstin is a Counsel in London, specialising in construction, with over 30 years’ experience. Her career has spanned a broad spectrum of construction work, and she is able to draw upon that range of experience to advise our clients on tailored solutions to meet their needs.

Kirstin’s experience covers the FIDIC, NEC, IChemE and JCT forms of contracts. She has extensive knowledge of procurement routes, ranging from traditional and design and build to construction management and more collaborative/alliancing models. Kirstin regularly advises on performance bonds and guarantees, as well as other construction and project related documents and contracts.

As well as advising our clients, Kirstin also heads up the firm’s construction knowhow and training, drafting template documents and guides and delivering training and workshops to our clients and lawyers on a wide variety of construction and contract law issues.

Experience

Advised the UK Government on construction aspects of the Sizewell C nuclear project, particularly focusing on the review and negotiation of the civil works alliance contract and direct agreements for all major equipment, construction and supply contracts.
Advised a Saudi Arabian developer on its overall procurement strategy for the world’s largest giga project, drafting a range of bespoke template contracts.
Advised a major offshore wind project developer following termination of the turbine supply and service and warranty agreements.
Advised a major offshore wind project developer on general contract administration of a turbine supply agreement, including the administration of various additional cost and extension of time claims.

Beyond the Office

Kirstin has taught contract and property law at universities in England and Australia. She also designed and taught a MA course in Construction Law for the University of New South Wales.

Education, Qualifications and Languages

Kirstin has a degree in Jurisprudence from Oxford University (St. Hilda’s College).
