Overview

Daniel is a partner in our Corporate/M&A group.

Daniel advises financial sponsors on a range of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, minority and growth capital investments, joint ventures, co-investments and carve-out transactions. His experience spans a number of asset classes, including private equity, real assets, infrastructure and energy.

Daniel also advises sponsors on the management of their existing portfolio companies, including on equity financings, liquidity events and add-on transactions.

Daniel has particular experience on cross-border transactions. He has worked in our New York, London and São Paulo offices. He is a dual-qualified lawyer, admitted to practice in New York and in England and Wales.

Daniel has been recognised as a Private Equity “Rising Star” by Law.com.

Work highlights

Daniel’s recent experience includes advising:

  • Carlyle and PAI Partners on the acquisition of Theramex, a dedicated women’s health company, from CVC, and Theramex on the acquisition of the European rights to certain women’s health products from Viatris Inc.
  • Montagu Private Equity on:
    • the carve-out acquisitions of (i) Maritime Intelligence (Lloyd’s List Intelligence) from Informa, (ii) Emerging Portfolio Funds Research (EPFR) from Informa and (iii) Miraclon, the flexographic printing division of Kodak
    • its acquisition of Waystone, the related investment by Hg, and certain add-on transactions
  • Hg on the sale of A-Plan to Howden and on Hg’s investment in Howden
  • DigitalBridge on:
    • the establishment of Vantage Data Centers Europe, a hyperscale data centre platform, and DigitalBridge and Vantage on (i) the related acquisition of Next Generation Data, (ii) the establishment of a €2.5bn investment partnership with MEAG, Infranity and DigitalBridge and (iii) the EUR 1.5bn investment by AusSuper
    • its joint venture with Liberty Global, AtlasEdge, to establish a European edge data centre platform
    • its sale of Wildstone to Antin
  • InfraVia Capital Partners on its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) joint venture, nexfibre, with Liberty Global and Telefónica (VMO2) (TMT Finance Europe Fibre Deal of the Year)

Professional experience

From 2018 to 2019, Daniel completed a client secondment as Senior Counsel in the Global Legal Investments team at The Carlyle Group in New York, supporting deal teams on domestic and international transactions and on the management of existing portfolio companies.

Education and qualifications

Daniel holds a Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School (Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar; Parker School Certificate of Achievement for International and Comparative Study; Online Editor, Columbia Journal of European Law).

He also holds a law degree (LL.B.) from University College London.
