Overview

Donnelly is a partner in the Linklaters corporate practice, based in Hong Kong. Recognised as a Next Generation Partner in the Hong Kong Equity Capital Market by Legal 500, Donnelly has over 15 years of experience in advising on a broad range of corporate transactions, including initial public offerings (IPO), equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, takeovers and joint ventures. He also advises a number of listed companies on transactions involving compliance with the Hong Kong Listing Rules.

  • Hong Kong IPOs of Aquila Acquisition Corporation (the city’s first ever SPAC listing), Qingdao AInnovation Technology Group Co Ltd, Blue Moon Group Holdings Ltd, Gushengtang Holdings Ltd, BOC Aviation Limited, SINOPEC Engineering (Group) Co., Ltd., Chongqing Machinery and Electric Company Limited, Regal REIT, the secondary listing of Kazakhmys PLC, the dual listing of Agricultural Bank of China and other international and Chinese companies.
  • equity capital markets transactions including APG, Invesco and Asian Development Bank in their cornerstone investments; various top-up/placing transactions including that of Xiaomi Corporation, Meituan, Shenzhou International Group Holdings Limited; and the rights issue of First Pacific Company Limited and Kingway Brewery Holdings Limited.
  • public M&A transactions such as the privatisation of Chong Hing Bank Limited by Yue Xiu Enterprise (Holdings) Limited, the privatisation of TCC International Holdings Limited by way of scheme of arrangement, and the mandatory general offer of Natural Beauty Bio-Technology Limited.

Education and qualifications

Donnelly obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from The University of Chicago and subsequently received his Graduate Diploma in Law and Postgraduate Certificate in Laws in Hong Kong. 

He is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
