Overview

Jun is a key member of the capital markets practice in Korea and assists issuers and underwriters on private placements and public offerings of debt and equity securities including equity-linked bonds, covered bonds and IPOs.

Jun has also advised on a wide variety of corporate, cross-border M&A and private equity transactions. He has extensive experience advising clients in different industries and countries including Korea, U.K. and Germany. 

Work highlights

Jun has advised on many high-profile transactions including advising: 

  • the underwriters on U.S. shelf takedown transactions by the Republic of Korea, The Export-Import Bank of Korea and The Korea Development Bank.
  • the joint lead managers on LG Chem, Ltd.’s issue of US$2bn dual-tranche exchangeable bonds exchangeable into common shares of LG Energy Solution, Ltd. (the largest exchangeable bond sold in Korea and the largest equity-linked bond deal globally since January 2022, at the time of issuance). 
  • on the establishment of a US$15bn Global Covered Bond Programme and a US$15bn Global Medium Term Note Programme by Korea Housing Finance Corporation and on multiple subsequent issuances under these two programmes.
  • the managers on the multi-issue of Reg S/144A US$700m notes, US$1bn notes and US$300m notes by POSCO as well as numerous other issuances for other major Korean firms including Kookmin Bank, Korea Expressway Corporation, NAVER, Mirae Asset Securities, Shinhan Card and SK hynix.
  •  the underwriters on the IPOs of Hyundai Heavy Industries and Kakaobank Corp.
  • CJ Cheiljedang in its acquisition of a majority interest in Batavia Biosciences B.V.

Professional experience

Jun has also provided legal advice on various corporate and M&A transactions prior to joining Linklaters, including acting in a sale of a U.K. MedTech company to one of the world’s largest healthcare companies headquartered in the Netherlands, advising a U.S. bank and a major European fund on a merger of one of their investee companies with a Nasdaq-listed biotech company, acting as counsel for a Dutch company in an acquisition of a major European beverage company based in England, and advising on a transfer of a U.K. listed company’s major business to a Japanese multinational manufacturer.

Education and qualifications

Jun holds an M.A. (Hons) Economics and Management degree from the University of St. Andrews and an M.A. Law degree from the University of Bristol Law School.
