Specialised experience in advising investors, financial institutions and corporates in relation to financial restructurings in workout scenarios as well as in relation to distressed debt investments.

Work highlights

Transactions of significance where substantial involvement can be disclosed have included:

  • Genting (Hong Kong Group): advising on a Holistic restructure of the financial indebtedness, including an amendment and extension of existing banking facilities, new money financing from the German government,  a €300m state aid via the German Federal Economic Stabilisation Fund (WSF) (in connection with the restructuring of in total US$3.5bn financial indebtedness) and new equity financing provided by the shareholders of Dream Cruises, a non-wholly owned subsidiary.
  • A US fund specialised in infrastructure investments: advising on the restructuring of its investment in biogas installations.
  • IVG Group and IVG Immobilien: advising the senior lenders’ ad hoc Committee on the restructuring of the group and insolvency of the company.
  • ZIM: advising the financing banks on the US$3.1bn debt restructuring of the shipping company.
  • Financing banks on the $ 3.1bn debt restructuring of the ZIM shipping company.
  • Praktiker Group: advising the financing banks on the restructuring of the company group.

Professional experience

Tobias started his career with Linklaters in 2006. Since 2021 he is working as Counsel.

He has spent four months working at European Stability Mechanism (ESM) in Luxembourg. In addition, he worked several months in the London office of Linklaters.

Education and qualifications

Tobias studied law at the Universities of Münster and Freiburg.

He speaks German and English.
